About Me
Amanda Bernhard, MA CCC-SLP
CORU: SL061765
I am an ASHA-certified, state-licensed speech-language pathologist from Massachusetts. I have spent over 10 years working with clients of all ages and across a broad spectrum of needs in a variety of settings.
I am also CORU-certified and able to practice in the Republic of Ireland. In conjunction with my work as a speech therapist, I am currently working on a PhD at University College Cork, to develop a speech sound disorder assessment tool in Irish. I am a fluent Irish speaker, and firmly believe that it is essential to provide assessment and treatment options in a client’s native and community language(s), particularly if they are a bilingual speaker. I spend part of my year in Ireland for this research, and enjoy working with Irish clients.
My experience, creativity, and continuing commitment to my own learning as a professional combine to allow me to provide services that are both evidence-based and innovative. I am deeply committed to collaborating with my clients to provide an individualized, functional, and meaningful approach to speech therapy.
In addition to my generalist background, I hold specialist certifications in LSVT LOUD and Loud for Life — evidence-based programs designed specifically for individuals with Parkinson's Disease. I have also run several singing groups for individuals with PD and other neurological conditions, knowing the positive effect that music and singing have on voice and other communication disorders. Lastly, I co-authored a booklet about Parkinson’s Disease and communication for the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) entitled “Make Your Voice Heard! Healthy Communication and Parkinson’s Disease.”
Outside of the clinic, my many sources of joy include singing and playing music, dancing, baking, and spending time in nature with my husband and dog.
